vincitore di numerosi premi in Italia e all’estero, suona regolarmente in Europa, Canada, Stati Uniti e Sudamerica, in centri musicali quali Buenos Aires, San Francisco, New York, Chicago, Banff, Vancouver, Boston, Paris, Lyon, Leipzig, Munich, Krakow, Prague, Graz, Ljubljana, Oslo, e per Festival quali Columbia University Fall Series, MITO Settembre Musica, Concerti del Quirinale, Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Alte Oper Frankfurt, Klangspuren Schwaz, Heidelberger Fruehling, Ferienkurse Darmstadt, Acanthes Paris.

Nel 2012 sono da menzionare in particolare il debutto al Teatro Colòn con l’Orquesta Filarmonica di Buenos Aires e l’incisione dell’integrale pianistica di Albert Roussel per Brilliant Classics, “Promenade sentimentale”. Recentemente è stato pubblicato il terzo CD Schumanniano col violoncellista Francesco Dillon, che ha fatto seguito alle prime due uscite discografiche del duo, dedicate rispettivamente a Schumann e Liszt.

La sua attivitá artistica é stata sostenuta da prestigiose istituzioni, quali Accademia Musicale Chigiana, DAAD Bonn, Ambassade de France en Italie, Universität für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Graz, New England Conservatory, IEMA Frankfurt, The Banff Centre.

La passione per la musica contemporanea lo ha portato ad eseguire in prima esecuzione svariate opere cameristiche e per pianoforte solo e a lavorare intensamente con compositori di primo piano, ricordiamo tra gli altri Alessandro Solbiati, Sylvano Bussotti, Wolfgang Rihm, Kaija Saariaho, Beat Furrer, Jonathan Harvey, Brett Dean, Magnus Lindberg, Peter Ablinger e con artisti quali Isabel Charisius, Garth Knox, Marisol Montalvo, Inon Barnatan, Quartetto Prometeo e con direttori quali Matthias Pintscher, Alejo Perez, Michael Gielen.

In campo didattico e’ stato invitato a tenere Masterclasses e Seminari d’interpretazione da istituzioni quali IULM, Gruppo Aperto Musica Oggi, Scuola di Musica di Fiesole, Conservatorio statale “F. Bonporti” di Trento, “B. Marcello” di Venezia, “L. Perosi” di Campobasso e all’estero negli Stati Uniti (Longy School of Music di Boston e Boston University) ed in Argentina (Università di La Plata).

Ha portato a termine i suoi studi a Firenze sotto la guida di Giancarlo Cardini. Si é specializzato in musica da camera con Franco Rossi prima, con il Trio di Trieste poi, presso la Scuola Superiore Internazionale di Duino, conseguendovi il Diploma di Merito. Parallelamente ha approfondito il repertorio solistico con Konstantin Bogino, lavorando inoltre con Alexander Lonquich,Yvonne Loriod-Messiaen, Nicholas Hodges, Ian Pace e Michael Wendeberg.

Dal 2010 è curatore della stagione concertistica music@villaromana per l’omonima istituzione tedesca.

Emanuele Torquati is rapidly gaining international recognition for his poetic and passionate music making, communicative performances and engaging programming.

His flourishing career has taken him to some of Europe, Canada and America’s most illustrious venues, in such diverse cities as Buenos Aires, San Francisco, Banff, New York, Chicago, Vancouver, Boston, Paris, Lyon, Frankfurt, Leipzig, Berlin, Prague, Krakow, Munich, Graz, Ljubljana and Oslo.

A notable performer of new music and an avid chamber musician, he enjoys a diverse and varied career as a pianist.

He was artist in residence at The Banff Centre with the project “Voyage Messiaen” in 2008 and in 2010 with “Intimate Sketches: Visions on Leos Janàcek”, enriched by 4 new pieces commissioned for the occasion.

Highlights of the 2012 season were the debut at Teatro Colon with Orquesta Filarmonica de Buenos Aires and the release of his first Solo Album, “Promenade sentimentale” for Brilliantclassics, devoted to the Complete Piano music of Albert Roussel. This release has been followed by his third Schumann CD with cellist Francesco Dillon, after those published in 2010 (Schumann) and 2011 (Liszt).

Moreover, he has worked intensively with leading composers including Sylvano Bussotti, Wolfgang Rihm, Kaija Saariaho, Beat Furrer, Jonathan Harvey, Brett Dean, Magnus Lindberg, Peter Ablinger and he has collaborated among others with musicians such as Isabel Charisius, Garth Knox, Marisol Montalvo, Inon Barnatan, Prometeo String Quartet, and conductors Matthias Pintscher, Alejo Perez and Michael Gielen.

The recipient of several international awards, Torquati has been supported by Institutions such as CEMAT, Accademia Musicale Chigiana, DAAD Bonn, Ambassade de France en Italie,Universität für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Graz, IEMA Frankfurt, The Banff Centre.

He has been invited to give Masterclasses within several Universities and Conservatories in Italy and abroad, a.o. for Longy School, Boston University and University of La Plata (Argentina).

Torquati was born in Milan in 1978.  His most influential teachers were Giancarlo Cardini and Konstantin Bogino. He also worked closely with Yvonne Loriod-Messiaen, Nicholas Hodges, Ian Pace, Michael Wendeberg. He went on to specialize in Chamber Music first with Franco Rossi, then he achieved a Master Degree at the International Chamber Music Academy of the Trio di Trieste. Since 2010, he’s the artistic director of music@villaromana for German institution Villa Romana.
